About the Online Events Production Team

Our team provides intensive, hands-on training on current technology topics by connecting top-tier instructors with members of our Safari learning platform. Through the medium of live online trainings, our members learn about new, critical technologies and interact directly with instructors from the OReilly network of experts and innovators. Our online training offering is growing rapidly, and were reaching beyond the United States to reach a global audience across many time zones.

About the Job

Were looking for an outgoing, confident, detail-oriented Online Events Producer to join our team and help us deliver live online training to the members of our Safari online learning platform.Through Safari, we provide training on the latest technologies by connecting our members with instructors from the OReilly network of experts and innovators.The Online Event Producer is responsible for hosting the live virtual online trainings, and the role requires flexible work hours to host events in time zones around the world.The Online Event Producer should come with the skills to keep the event running smoothly, and must be ready to react to technical difficulties, help members with problems, and be able to jump in as needed to support the instructors and learners.Additional duties may include preparing instructors to use our training platform and making sure that any additional material (such as slides or example files) are ready and available to our members.

This position is based in Boston, MA, and reports directly to our Online Events Manager.

This position is responsible for:

  • Facilitating and hosting multiple live online training courses using our training platform
  • Delivering presenter prep training sessions and ensuring that presenters questions are answered and that theyre proficient with the training platform
  • Act as event/training facilitator, event host, and on-air moderator (reading scripts, promos, and announcements; providing tech support for attendees and presenter)
  • Event project coordination (scheduling events and tracking down PowerPoint decks and materials)
  • Being aware of exactly what state all of your upcoming classes are in:
    are all of the deliverables ready? Is the instructor ready? Is all event prep finished?
  • Setting up event/training platforms on a per-event/class basis
  • Performing post-event/class functions, event/class archiving
  • Hosting events for a global audience and presenters

About You

Youre a confident, outgoing professional with a media personality:

youre upbeat, high-energy, enthusiastic, and can keep our presenters pumped up and attendees engaged.You can jump on the audio and make sure theres no dead-air time and you keep the event moving forward.You have a track record of gracefully managing the unexpected.Youre able to solve live-event issues/emergencies calmly and remain in control, working well under pressure while multi-tasking.You have technical and people skills to help us provide an industry-leading learning experience for our members and instructors.Youre highly organized and able to work with high-profile talent with busy schedulesyou can help them get prepared and provide any pre-event deliverables with minimal disruptions to their schedules.

Experience producing live online events, webcasts, and webinars through platforms such as ON24, WebEX, GoToWebinar, Adobe Connect, or similar, are big plusses, but were also interesting in talking to candidates with other relevant media experience or that demonstrate the key skills and qualities with list describe here.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Able to communicate effectively, prioritize workloads, and work on multiple events/online classes simultaneously
  • Able to work on live online events, up to 8+ hour duration; flexible work hours required in order to host trainings in many time zones
  • Able to work in a collaborative environment and across departments
  • Able to juggle conflicting priorities while maintaining flexibility to allow for last minute changes
  • Work well under pressure; react to issues/emergencies calmly and remain in control
  • Must meet deadlines timely and work well with limited supervision
  • Intermediate knowledge of PowerPoint, Keynote, PDFs, etc.
  • Knowledge of one or more webcasting platforms is desired (such as ON24, WebEx, GoToWebinar, Adobe Connect, etc.


  • Experience running live events and trainings or other similar events (including talent preparation sessions) is desired

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 2 + years of hands-on experience related to producing live virtual events (or similar events, such as webcasts, webinars, etc.)
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects concurrently and meet goals and deadlines
  • Knowledge of one or more webcasting platforms
  • Four-year college degree, or combination of relevant education and work experience
